Impact of LPG on Thermic Fluid Heating

Benefits of Switching to LPG from HSD

A case study of how a customer enhanced safety and operational efficiency by switching from HSD to LPG for thermic fluid heating.

Abstract

This case study explores a customer's transition from HSD to LPG provided by SUPERGAS for their diverse array of products such as Transformers, Switchgears, Protection Relays, and smart city applications. Focusing on safety and prompt order delivery, SUPERGAS successfully facilitated this change, enhancing the customer's manufacturing process for their self-healing smart grid software suite. This strategic move enabled the customer to see improvements in safety and efficiency.

Role of LPG in Thermic Fluid Heating

Thermic Fluid Heating is a method that involves using a heat transfer fluid to conduct heat from a fuel source to various processes needing heat in industrial applications. It has a significant advantage over standard steam systems because it can cover a wide temperature range (from 32°F up to 750°F) with minimal vapor pressure, ensuring efficient heat transfer without the need for high pressures or the energy losses.

As a cleaner burning fuel, LPG ensures that the thermic fluid heating system operates with higher combustion efficiency compared to traditional fuels like diesel or heavy fuel oil. This efficiency not only translates to better operational performance but also to lower emissions, making it an environmentally friendlier option.

Benefits of Partnering with SUPERGAS

Before switching to SUPERGAS' LPG, the multinational company faced challenges regarding safety, knowledge of LPG usage, and reliable order fulfillment due to their heavy consumption. Initially preferring PNG over HSD, they also had concerns about choosing a reliable supplier.

After various meetings and discussions to address their apprehensions, the customer was swayed by SUPERGAS's safety-centric approach, technical acumen, dedicated customer care team, and comprehensive product offerings. They were further impressed by SUPERGAS's solution to reduce the number of cylinders handled, ensure direct supply, facilitate orders via the EACD Plus system, and the promise of cost savings over HSD.

While Using HSD After Switching to LPG
Difficulty in operations due to uninterrupted supply and downtime.  Smooth and uninterrupted LPG supply to ensure ease of operations.
Manual Ordering and human intervention  EACD Plus system and hence no dependence on manual intervention
Lot of efforts and time is invested in maintenance and cleaning burners due to spillage and carbon deposits.  No downtime for cleaning/maintenance of the burner.
Smoke and pollution had a significant impact on the employees and environment.  Smoke free environment in plant
