Impact of LPG on Heating Treatment

Switching to SR-Grade LPG from Diesel

A case study of a customer who achieved significant cost savings, eliminated downtime, by choosing a reliable fuel source for their operations.

Abstract

This case study focuses on a leading company in the casting industry, based in Coimbatore, dedicated to producing top-notch steel castings. They've innovated a special no-bake casting method called Pep set, tailored for the needs of the steel and alloy sectors, which cuts down on manual work and boosts efficiency thanks to state-of-the-art tech and machines. Aiming to keep up with the industry's expanding needs, improving their facilities has been a key goal. Notably, they've made a green move from using diesel to LPG, highlighting their commitment to better, more sustainable practices.

Role of LPG in Heat Treatment

Heat treatment in the casting industry is a crucial process that alters the physical and sometimes chemical properties of metal to achieve desired characteristics. It includes annealing, tempering, and hardening. Employing precise temperature control, it enhances metal's strength, durability, and performance.

The process is essential for ensuring the quality and reliability of casted components across industries. LPG combustion produces fewer contaminants that can interfere with the casting process. Innovations, including the use of cleaner fuels like LPG, have made heat treatment more efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective.

Benefits of Partnering with SUPERGAS

After deciding to work with SUPERGAS, our customer, who already had the capability to perform specialized heat treatments like annealing, saw notable advantages. Initially, they nearly chose a local LPG supplier offering free setup, even building an LPG shed from provided plans that unfortunately lacked technical expertise. However, after much discussion, they turned to SUPERGAS, impressed by our deep technical knowledge and reliable customer support team.

The switch led to clear benefits: their processes became more efficient and safer, while they also experienced improved product quality and cost savings

    Operational Impact Study

SUPERGAS team shared the clear and hidden perks of using LPG instead of HSD, along with a solution for their energy needs: a 2 x 30 slot installation for production. Our solution perfectly matched their needs, making things simpler with fewer cylinders to manage, ensuring a straight supply line without needing to go through dealers or franchises.
While Using Diesel  While Using LPG
Gaps in supply which led to downtime  Smooth and uninterrupted LPG supply, without any dealer/ Franchisee involvement
Human intervention to order fuel and maintenance  Auto ordering and hence not dependent on manual intervention
Increased operational costs and maintenance costs due to spillage Huge cost savings by conversion as well as maintenance
Pollution due to diesel smoke created an unhealthy environment which developed various health issues in employees.   Smoke-free environment inside the plant, which avoids eye irritation for their employees
